I have been patiently waiting for years to feature in the future where I will comfortably attach two giant meats to the top of my food as adults did when I was much younger. Just when I thought it was time, the economy keeps laughing at me, so I have to wait a little longer. I am still waiting for the Love of my life and even though sheβs beginning to annoy me (because what is taking her so long?), I guess I have to wait a little longer. The one I find so crazy is how you will wait hours to prepare a proper self-made meal, just to finish it in minutes. I mean you had to wait the whole month too to hear from me again and you could possible count thousands of other things you have to wait for in life. Whether you are waiting in line at the grocery store or waiting for career advancements or personal goals to manifest, waiting permeates our lives in various forms and it is an inescapable part of our existence. However, hidden within the act of waiting lies a wealth of unspoken values that can profoundly impact our lives. If you canβt wait to complete this article, the gist is not perceiving waiting as wasted time, but rather recognizing it as an integral part of progress- a gateway to personal growth and a catalyst for profound transformation.
Watching and cheering.
This past weeks, I have said so many βcongratulationsβ even to random internet people I donβt know. Especially with the marveling 5.0 girl convoking the same year and the same faculty as me, people have asked me questions about her and at some point it feels like they are rubbing it on my face. βLet Olodos breatheee abeg, donβt suffocate us, you have that responsibilityβ. But this is life, you will have to do a lot of watching other people succeed and achieve what you dearly covet, and if you are kind enough, you will cheer so many people even with a little despair in your heart. Most times, all you can do is hope that your time will come. Β Β Β Β Β
We wait, but most of us suck at waiting the right way.
There is a way you would approach life that you wouldnβt even realize that you are waiting, I call it βenjoying the waiting processβ. Waiting is not mere idleness or a passive experience. It involves grinding through the process. You donβt wait to become rich or become a good writer, you just do your thing, equip yourself with the right skill, put in the work and trust the process. It is not about just waiting, it is about what you do while waiting. Waiting teaches us that success is not an overnight phenomenon, but a gradual journey that requires perseverance. Whether it's pursuing a passion, working towards a goal, or building relationships, the waiting period offers us a unique opportunity for self-reflection, personal growth, and the discovery of hidden treasures along the way. It is during this phase that we develop new skills, gain valuable insights, and savor the beauty of anticipation. You just have to find joy in the process itself, and that is the only way waiting would not be burdensome.
The bad news about waiting.
The truth is that most of the lofty goals that we pedestalize and wait for may never come, and when they do come, they might not take the form we have idealized. As heartbreaking as it sounds, a lot of people will die waiting to be rich. Many people will also wait for long years just to end up marrying a spouse that they may regret ever meeting. It is crazy, but waiting is not automatic assurance of good result. It is fraught in baggage of uncertainty, and this is why you must enjoy the process, because this might just be the only thing you will enjoy from waiting. Β Β
Discovering Self-Reflection and Clarity.
Waiting provides us with the gift of self-reflection. It grants us the chance to reassess our desires, evaluate our priorities, and gain clarity about our aspirations. By taking a step back and observing the journey, we can identify areas for improvement, adjust our strategies, and align our actions with our goals. Waiting offers a fertile ground for introspection, enabling us to make more informed decisions and set ourselves up for success. As uncertain as the outcome of waiting is, you are better off waiting till the right time.
Appreciating the Outcome
Waiting infuses our achievements with a sense of fulfillment and appreciation. The anticipation and effort invested in waiting make the eventual outcome more meaningful and rewarding. When we allow ourselves to fully experience the waiting period, we develop a deeper appreciation for the destination we have worked so hard to reach. The waiting transforms into a testament of our dedication, commitment, and resilience, making the end result all the more precious.
In conclusion
We need to redefine how we see waiting, we need to start seeing it as a transformative experience and relish the journey towards our goals, for it is in the waiting that we discover the true essence of success and uncover the values that shape our lives.
